Henry Adams' design replaced MEP equipment that had passed life expectancy or was obsolete, specifically, toilets, sinks, hand dryers, lighting, electrical distribution equipment, electrical service, and plumbing. Since the interior and exterior configurations of the historic facilities did not meet current ADA and ABA standards, they needed to be renovated. In addition, new systems such as ventilation, fire detection, lightning protection, and fire suppression systems were installed in these structures to bring them in compliance with current building codes and National Park Service standards.

Henry Adams has worked with the NPS for 25+ years. Under this IDIQ, Henry Adams provided MEP engineering support for the North East Region. Projects included renovation, rehabilitation, conditions assessments, and historic structure reports for a wide range of historic houses, visitor centers, comfort stations, estates, and office buildings. Many of the projects involve historic renovation and adaptive reuse of buildings that require sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems to provide modern amenities to historic buildings.
