HENRY ADAMS was the MEP engineer for the mixed-use project.

NAIOP MD|DC presented The Liz at Whitman Walker with an Award of Merit as the Best Master Plan / Mixed Use Project.

Whitman-Walker Health System, a non-profit community health center devoted to the LGBTQ community, and private developer Fivesquares Development partnered to transform two historic DC buildings.

The project includes 60,000 SF of office space across two floors that will house Whitman-Walker’s administrative offices. Goethe-Institute, a non-profit German cultural association, will occupy a floor of the building for office space. The ground floor will be made up of 20,000 SF of retail space and the Whitman-Walker Cultural Center, a space committed to serving the LGBTQ community.

The new development creates long-term funding for Whitman-Walker, allowing the non-profit to offer more services and keep majority ownership of the historic property. The development acts as a central hub for the community, offering outdoor and retail space, and public art.

Henry Adams provided the MEP engineering design services for the world-class 166,000 SF mixed-use development including offices, residential, and retail occupancies.
