The Forest Sciences Laboratory (FSL) has been a fixture in Morgantown for decades. Since 1966, the federally owned facility has been standing beside the University of West Virginia. The facility is comprised of three separate buildings, including a main office/laboratory, an annex/conference, and garage/shop building. The work at the FSL is dedicated to studying the health and maintenance of ecological systems and their success. The facility specializes in studying disturbance ecology and oak-dominated forest management, with a large segment of research dedicated to studying the gypsy moth in relation to oak trees.

Henry Adams provided the MEP engineering services for the HVAC renovations serving the laboratory building. The project included the replacement and repair of existing control systems, dual duct terminal units, outdoor air duct relocations, and system ventilation for the 1966 and 1977 portions of the existing building.

The mechanical scope included performing ventilation calculations, air change calculations, room pressurizations review, preparation of demolition and new work drawings, and specifications as required to show removal of existing mechanical components ductwork and associated components. The electrical scope included new circuit locations for power of control equipment and new starter controls/power connections for existing manually switched lab exhaust fans.
