Henry Adams provided the MEP engineering design services for the transformation of a 4-story, 45,000 SF historic school building into a condominium complex. The Buchanan School building, acquired for $21M, dates back to 1895. It was redeveloped into a complex that consists of 41 single and multiple bedroom units totaling 33,000 SF.
The MEP engineering design includes sprinkler/fire alarm and drawings of incoming sprinkler/water service that identify zone assemblies and sprinkler mains. As part of the lighting design, the scope included limited site and parking lot lighting. Microduct pathways were provided from each hub panel to main telecommunications rooms. The design of voice/data and CATV devices and cabling in common areas were provided to a hub panel or termination cabinet in the telecommunication room. A telephone entry system was included as part of the design package. The mechanical engineering scope encompasses HVAC, associated building controls, plumbing, and fire suppression. The electrical engineering scope included power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications.
