VAMC Martinsburg, Utility Upgrade Study

Henry Adams provided the MEP engineering services for the study of the central steam, steam condensate, chilled water, and soft water systems serving the existing and planned future buildings on the Martinsburg campus. There were 16 existing buildings, 7 new construction buildings, and 8 future buildings considered in the study. Separate calculations were done for each building to determine their demand from the system. A thermal load was calculated for each system, and in response cooling requirements were calculated for each building. A schematic was created for each system to show the routing and sizing of the mains for use in the construction of new and future buildings. The schematics will serve as a living document that can be updated as new buildings come on-line.
