The new 50,000 SF Appalachian Laboratory provides research and support space in the new facility that includes laboratories, aquatic area, data processing and computer center, a large green house with environmental controls for balancing artificial and sunlight and automatic controlled louvers, chemical storage, electronics and fabrication shops, classrooms and offices. Due to the changing nature of research in environmental science and natural resource issues, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, laboratories and support areas are being designed for maximum flexibility to adapt to the changing needs and requirements of research and training programs.
