Award of the PGCC Queen Anne Academic Center

Prince George’s Community College has selected its design team for the Queen Anne Performing Arts & Academic Center project.  Henry Adams, llc is the MEP engineering consultant on the winning Pfeiffer Partners team.

The Queen Anne Academic Center project will renovate approximately 33,455 GSF of space and add approximately 136,545 GSF of space to the existing Queen Anne Fine Arts Center. The proposed solution will replace deteriorated building infrastructure component and correct issues to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) code requirements, modernize finishes and equipment, provide spaces for a new Dance major in the Theatre curriculum, and significantly expand spaces to improve, and transform the curriculums of Music, Theatre, Speech, and Television, Radio, and Film on campus. Beyond standard offices and classrooms the Queen Anne Academic Center will feature an 800-seat theatre, a 250-seat Proscenium theatre, a 200-seat Blackbox Studio, Instructional Theater and Educational Technology (TET) Labs, Flexible Performance and Instructional spaces, Radio, Television and Film Broadcast and Production Labs, a 125-seat Recital Hall, music band and rehearsal space, dance studios, and an Art Gallery.

The College has established a requirement of LEED Gold Certification for this project, with an expected construction cost of over $60,000,000.  The design team will be responsible for adherence to both State and Prince George’s County requirements on this project.
