Commissioning

Henry Adams is industry certified to provide commissioning through the ACG (AABC Commissioning Group). Commissioning is a quality control-based process that helps to ensure that  buildings are designed, constructed and operated in accordance with the owner's project requirements. The commissioning agent (CxA) focuses on the building owner; frequently the CxA is hired by the owner.

Commissioning is frequently required by owners who understand the benefits of a program that verifies the design, construction and operation of building systems. In addition to mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, commissioning of the building envelope and other systems is becoming increasingly common.  Commissioning for new construction or major renovations may also be required by building code (IECC, DC Green Code, etc.) or green building certification program like the US Green Building Council's LEED rating systems or Green Globes.

Retro-commissioning applies the principles of commissioning to existing buildings that have  been previously commissioned.  The process is used to re-establish the original design intent and any modifications that may have been made over time.

Re-commissioning is the process of commissioning applied to a building that has been previously commissioned as a means of maintaining energy efficiency and thermal comfort during occupancy.
