As part of an IDIQ contract, Henry Adams provided MEP engineering services to the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building in Wilmington, Delaware. One of the task orders completed by the team was the Lobby renovation project, which involved approximately 16,000 SF of effected area of the entry plaza. Like many federal buildings, the Boggs building was not configured to accommodate the current security and access control measures required in current facilities. The building, an example of the late modernist period, was lacking in architectural quality at its main entrance and lobby. The Henry Adams/OKKS Team designed a contemporary lobby expansion within the existing exterior colonnade that creates a new center for the security inspection and guard areas; expands office areas on the ground floor; renovates the entry plaza; and retains the existing lobby intact. The design creates a significant improvement to the building image. The design includes temporary entry and inspection areas and includes ARRA funded lighting in the egress stairs.
