Baltimore County Courts Building

Henry Adams provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and communication system design for the renovation of 14,000 SF, consisting of three new court rooms, jury rooms, four judges' chambers with support staff offices and prisoner holding area. The prisoner holding area included six cells with secure plumbing fixtures, HVAC and finishes, secure corridors with security cameras and a maintenance corridor for the secure plumbing fixtures. The existing variable air volume system and perimeter for coil system were renovated for the new layout along with the plumbing system. A new sprinkler system was added to the entire floor. Lighting and power were provided from the existing panel boards.  AV communication systems for the courtrooms consisted of microphone outlets at the judge's bench, jury area, witness stand and counsel table. A voice activated multiple camera set-up was included to cover all areas of the courtroom. Each camera is connected to a VCR. Speakers for the audio system are located at the judge's bench, jury area and spectators’ area. A white noise generating system is provided at the judge's bench and jury area. Panic alarm buttons are included at the judge's bench and staff table. This alarm connects to the Sheriff's Department.
