VAMC Martinsburg, AC-18 Air Handling Unit Replacement

As the prime consultant, Henry Adams was responsible for scheduling, oversight and coordination of the entire project design. Sub-consultant services included architectural and structural work. In addition, Henry Adams provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design services for the replacement of AC-18 a 38,000 CFM single fan, dual duct system supporting multiple floors and zones. The new unit provides separate heating and cooling units having multi-fans to better match loads, provide increased efficiencies and redundancy. The design emphasizes minimizing occupancy disruption and specifically includes analysis for temporary support requirements. The final task of this project included replacement of all steam to hot water shell in tube heat exchangers and associated heating water circulating pumps.
