Union Memorial Hospital Helipad

Henry Adams provided complete MEP design for a rooftop helipad for Union Memorial Hospital’s emergency services. The design was done in accordance with USDoT FAA Heliport Design Recommendations and Standards. It also incorporated the specific code requirements from IFC Chapter 11 (Aviation Facilities) and NFPA 418 (Heliports). An unique challenge of this design related to the fire protection coverage and containment of the drainage. Another challenging aspect of the project involved the snow melt system required to keep the helipad surface free from any possible ice build-up.
