Maryland Public Television Studio A

The renovation and expansion of Maryland Public Television's Studio A space and supporting facilities helped to modernize the space, met code compliance, and improved overall broadcast and recording flexibility.

The new expanded footprint of 5,120 SF facilitated increased live audience broadcasts and those requiring additional space and grade-level vehicular access. Studio A space was regularly used for catered events such as Maryland State departmental workshops and corporate events. The increased building footprint greatly enhanced MPT's ability to host such events and store associated equipment.

The expansion also included the reconfiguration of lobby toilet rooms and existing dressing rooms to meet ADA requirements. The control rooms were converted into a dedicated dressing and green room area, and a 1,500 SF addition was dedicated to mechanical system storage.

The renovation addressed MPT's issues around HVAC systems and code compliance. The upgrade reduced significant noise that had come from these systems, which had previously needed to be shut down for taping. LEED Silver certification was achieved.
