The Robinson Nature Center is Howard County’s first publically owned and operated nature center. Henry Adams, LLC provided the mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for the new 24,500 SF facility.  That design included light pollution reduction, low flow plumbing fixtures to decrease water usage by more than 50% over conventional fixtures, and saves more than 42% of energy compared to the ASHRAE 90.1  Standard by using geothermal heat pumps, highly efficient lighting, waste energy recovery, and a 42 kw PhotoVoltaic solar electric system.

The Center won both the 2012 “Top New Construction” award and the “People’s Choice” award from the Maryland Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Architect:  GWWO Architects

“The smartest decision that we made during the project was the selection of the GWWO team...Your team’s efforts have produced a facility that everyone here in Howard County is proud of.”
