This year marked the long-awaited opening of the newest location for Cecil County Public Library – the North East Branch.

The new $16M, 47,225 SF combined library and administrative offices facility reflects the community with an increased emphasis on creating user experiences that promote learning, discovery, and interaction.

There are a multitude of areas for different activities as well as space to relax and read. The facility includes an entrepreneur center and business commons, digital media lab, hands-on STEM exploration area, teen center, quiet reading room, and 10 individual work/study rooms. The library holds 70,000+ books and media for all ages to enjoy. An Early Literacy Center is provided for infants to five-year-old kids to introduce and encourage literacy early on. Additionally, there is a book drop-off window, outdoor spaces for education programming, 100-vehicle surface parking lot, and parking for 16 bicycles.

Cecil County Public Library is a national award-winning library system whose services go far beyond books, making a critical difference in the community in areas such as education, small business, workforce, veterans’ services, and more. The new North East Branch Library is poised to become system's busiest branch with its opening.
