As a member of the technical production staff, the HVAC & Electrical Designer is responsible for assisting in the development of the design of mechanical and electrical systems. This includes drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and similar products and services. Mechanical and Electrical systems generally include HVAC, plumbing, control systems, power, lighting, risers, and fire protection. In addition, the HVAC & Electrical Designer is responsible for maintaining good client relationships on a firm wide basis.
(a) Prepare design documents a thorough knowledge of industry practices and office standards.
(b) Incorporate a basic understanding of the governing codes and standards affecting the work.
(c) Utilize Trane/Trace, Carrier/HAP, Microsoft Office products, CADD, BIM/Revit, and other industry software.
(d) Conduct field surveys, load analyses, and cost estimating take-offs.

(d) Adhere to design and construction budgets and schedules.

Education and Experience:
(a) Preferred -
(i) Associate Degree from an engineering related college or university program.
(ii) Training Certificate from a CADD program.
(iii) Hands-on field experience installing commercial HVAC or plumbing systems.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance - This position requires the ability to pass a background check and obtain clearance for client and government contracts. United States citizenship is a must.
Travel - This position requires occasional day trips throughout the mid-Atlantic area. It requires an occasional overnight trip and travel by plane. It requires a valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle.
