Construction Administrator

As a member of the construction phase services staff, the Construction Adminstrator is responsible for monitoring the contractor's execution of the contract documents. This includes mechanical, electrical, architectural, and related systems. Systems generally include HVAC, plumbing, control systems, piping, power, lighting, and fire protection. In addition, the Construction Administrator is responsible for project management when assigned and good client relationship management on a firm wide basis.

Essential Functions:

(a) Execute construction phase review services consisting of submittal review, RFI responses, supplemental instructions, construction logs, field reports, and meeting minutes.

(b)   Engage in the testing and commissioning of various systems.

(c)   Detailed understanding of the governing codes and standards affecting the work.

(d)  Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel, Revit, and Microstation and other industry software.

(e) Ability to actively participate in client meetings, conduct field surveys, including crawl spaces and above ceilings, and thoroughly document existing conditions.

(f)  Perform detailed take-offs and cost estimates.

(a) Knowledgeable in the engineering and installation practices of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

(b)  Ability to read and correctly interpret construction drawings and specifications.

(c)  Working knowledge of construction contracts, responsibilities, and sequencing.

 (b)  Actively communicate, collaborate, and coordinate effectively with clients, co-workers, and others.

(c)  Effectively work on multiple assignments simultaneously.

(d)  Adhere to design and construction budgets and schedules.

(e) Commitment to maintaining a high standard of quality in the delivery of our technical solutions, customer service, and ethical standards.

Education and Experience:

(a) Required -

(i)    Five years of commercial construction experience in HVAC or electrical system installation.

 (b) Preferred -

(i)    Four year college degree.

(ii)   Commissioning certification or experience.

(iii)  HVAC Controls programming experience.

(iv)  Trade, Inspection, or Professional Engineering license.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance - This position requires the ability to pass a background check and obtain clearance for client and government contracts. United States citizenship is a must.

Travel - This position requires regular day trips throughout the mid-Atlantic area. It requires an occasional overnight trip and travel by plane. It requires a valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle.
